A.o.D.
split-screen color slide installation (2007) / work in progress
The project A.o.D stands in line with the series of recurrent protagonists in photographs
since the mid 1990s. The title again alludes to a number of connotations,
which could possibly be read as “Angels of Dust” or “Autopsy or Diagnosis,”
yet the acronym clearly avoids an overburdening with pathos.
One of the essential qualities of this photographic series is to follow one of the long-time protagonists
through different moments of life characterized through notions of individuality and eccentricity,
which enforces a heightened awareness for different psychic states of mind.
The main setting is the life in cities along the Pacific Northwest, which is interrupted by events
in other places to emphasize notions of urban ubiquity with its focus on routine action patterns.
