DISclose
b/w slide installation, 2001-2003
DISclose can be seen as a continuation of the color series, D&S, however, doing away with
staged interventions in order to focus on the immediacy of the
protagonists’ action(s).
The strong b/w contrasts convey a directness to various living
conditions, including the public space as a strong identity marker,
which, through the succession of the slides turns the whole picture
series into a photographic road movie. In its narrativity, DISclose concentrates on aspects of
the everyday, which, due to globalized values can no longer be traced
according to geographical or nation-bound characteristics. Hence, the
fusion of American and European settings emphasizes the genre-specific
modes of depicting ephemeral textures of reality.
DISclose features a soundtrack
by British musician John Parish. John Parish is a composer,
multi-instrumentalist & producer whose last solo album Once Upon A Little Time was
released on Thrill Jockey in September 2005. He is known for
collaborating with &/or producing PJ Harvey, Eels, Giant Sand &
many others. On the occasion of the first presentation of DISclose, Parish played a short
solo set at Fotohof Salzburg.
