Approaching the representation of urbanism and built space through a frame of psychoanalysis, this exhibition raises a set of productive binaries that are worked through in a range of practices. Playing off of the psychoanalytical structure of 

interiority and exteriority, the works in this show extend this relationship to use the binaries of surface and depth and order and disorder as visual tactics and semiotic themes. And, as the canny use of the word gaze in the exhibition subtitle signals, the relationship of gender and space, as well as the gendering of regimes of seeing and representation, are investigated.
